A Chinese woman posted a fake wedding certificate between herself and a South Korean pop star online for fun, only for her angry father to scold her for “not notifying him of her marriage”, local media reports.

The woman, 26, identified only by her surname Li, from the city of Chongqing, used the Photoshop computer software to create a realistic marriage licence using her photo and personal details and those of Song Joong-ki, the star of hit television drama, Descendants of the Sun, the Chongqing Metro News reported.

“I thought everybody knew Song Joong-ki, so thought it would be a lot of fun to do so,” Li said.

One of Li’s relatives shared her post and asked her on social media when she planned to hold the wedding banquet. Li wrote back as a joke: “We are about to do so, and [you are] welcome to attend our ceremony in Korea.”

However, Li’s father also saw the fake marriage licence and her conversations.

He immediately rang her and yelled at her angrily: “Who has given a green light to your marriage? How dare you leave me in the dark? Where is he from?”

He calmed down only after she explained it was all a joke.

However, many of Li’s friends were fooled, too, and also posted their congratulations.
